Murrysville resident Bob Bickers is a retired attorney who has also been a professional artist for over forty years. But for more than half a century he has been a die-hard space enthusiast closely following the activities of NASA and the various space programs of the world.
In July the Gallery Space is featuring an exhibit of Bob’s paintings commemorating the Apollo 11 mission of July 1969, when astronaut Neil Armstrong first set foot upon the moon, and the five Apollo missions afterwards that constitute humanity’s only manned exploration of another world. On July 11 Bob will speak about his personal observations and reflections on the first manned moon landing and the rest of the Apollo program. He will discuss what we knew about the lunar missions then and what has been uncovered since 1969 because of easier access to information and the declassifying of government documents. He will also discuss his artwork related to the Apollo missions and describe how some of the images were created.
Bob will also host an Artist’s Opening Reception in the Gallery Space on July 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. which is also free and open to the public.
