Join us for a discussion of voter redistricting – a hot topic in Pennsylvania, one of the most heavily gerrymandered states in the U.S. The issue has taken on particular urgency in advance of the 2020 Census and the resulting need for all states to redraw their federal Congressional and state House and Senate districts. How this process will be handled is the focus of a long-standing battle in Harrisburg between the politicians who have controlled it for years and reform groups like Fair Districts PA that are pressing for the creation of an independently selected citizens panel to do it. A growing number of States have taken such steps, but Pennsylvania’s struggle is especially challenging because it requires amending the State Constitution.
