A genealogical DNA test is a DNA-based test which looks at specific locations of a person’s genome to find ancestral genealogical relationships or (with less certainty) estimate the ethnic mixture of an individual. In MPL’s latest Science Adventure, Mylynda B. Massart, M.D., Ph.D. will discuss the science behind your DNA test results. Dr. Massart is a Family Medicine physician at UPMC and assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her doctoral degree at the University of Utah in Molecular Biology/Biochemistry and her medical degree from Oregon Health Sciences University. Her research interests are in developing education in genetics and precision medicine for primary care providers and trainees and being a research catalyst facilitating the inclusion of underrepresented populations in biomedical research.
